Concealed carry for skinny guys can seem like a challenge. Where do you conceal a weapon when you don't have much meat on your bones?

In some ways, skinny guys can carry concealed weapons more easily than bigger guys. You just have to use the right strategies and take advantage of your body's straighter lines.

Carry a Small CCW

Being skinny doesn't necessarily mean that you need to carry a smaller CCW. A lot of tall, skinny guys find that they can conceal full-sized pistols such as the Sig Sauer P320, which has a 4.7-inch barrel and an 8-inch overall length. When you're tall and narrow, the large gun can rest against your hip without much imprinting.

(It helps that we have a tuckable IWB Kydex holster designed specifically for the SIG Sauer P320's dimensions and features.)

If you're thin and on the shorter side, though, you need to think about finding a small CCW that you can conceal easily. Some of your best options include:

Wear Baggy Clothes

Baggy clothing does two important things for your CCW. First, the fabric used in baggy clothing tends to bunch up, which helps distract from your gun's printing. Second, adding an inch or two to your waistband will give you enough room to holster your weapon.

Of course, you can't always wear baggy clothing. You can go to the store wearing an oversized shirt, but you can't show up to a business meeting in a sloppy outfit.

Choose Button-up Shirts

When you need to wear nicer clothes for an event, such as a meeting or a wedding, you know you can't wear baggy clothes that could give someone a negative impression of you. But wearing tailored clothes doesn't mean that you must leave your CCW at home.

Wearing a button-up shirt will make it much easier for you to conceal any weapon that you holster near the small of your back. Look for a tapered shirt that will bunch slightly when you tuck it into your pants. An IWB holster should stay concealed even when you take off your jacket.

Button-up shirts during informal social situations can also improve concealed carry for skinny guys. You don't have to tuck in the shirt to hide your weapon. Instead, you can let the bottom hang over your waistline. It works well for most thin guys.

Get a Gun Belt

As a skinny guy, you probably don't have very large hips. You might also have a small rear end. Without many curves, your holstered gun could weigh down your waistband. Even if the gun and holster stay in place when you walk, they could slip when you enter a dangerous situation that requires quick movement.

Wearing a gun belt keeps everything in the correct location, so you can reach down and pull out your CCW when needed.

Take care when you buy a new gun belt, though. Avoid nylon versions. Nylon tends to stretch, which makes it harder to conceal your weapon and forces you to buy replacements when they stop working. It's easier and more affordable to spend a little more money on one well-made leather belt than several nylon belts that deform quickly.

At Rounded, we make a 14-ounce, 1.5-inch belt from premium full grain US leather. It's available in two colors (black and brown) and several sizes. Find the right option to keep your gun in place and unseen.

Distribute Weight With a Hybrid Tuckable Holster

A gun belt works wonders for your CCW, but that doesn't necessarily mean that it will solve all of your concealed carry issues. Most holsters only have one belt clip. Typically, that's what most people want when they buy concealed carry holsters. When you compare concealed carry holsters for skinny guys, though, you can see the benefits in a wide tuckable holster with two clips.

Having two clips makes it easier to distribute a gun's weight. That way, it doesn't put too much pressure on one part of your gun belt. Instead, it spreads out the weight, which makes your belt and waistband less likely to droop.

We have a wide leather hybrid tuckable IWB holster that fits most of the popular gun models for CCW. User-adjustable cant, retention, and ride height give you easier access to your weapon. You can choose between ULTICLIP3 or ULTICLIP XL.

Reduce Printing With a Holster Claw Kit

Holster claw kits can eliminate printing by angling your gun's holster toward your body. With the butt of the gun angled slightly toward you, you don't need to worry about it pressing against your shirt.

We make a holster claw kit that practically anyone can add to IWB and tuckable holsters. Make sure you choose a compatible holster if you want to use a claw kit, though. Unfortunately, our current claw kit system is not compatible with the:

  • Beretta Nano
  • Beretta Pico
  • Ruger LCP
  • Ruger LCP II
  • S&W Bodyguard 350
  • Taurus Spectrum
  • Taurus 738 TCP

We can install your claw kit for you before shipping, but you must have a compatible holster in your cart when you check out and pay for your order.
